How to measure your window?
Follow our steps for a perfect fit. Measuring only takes 5 minutes.
Watch out for obstacles!
Before measuring, check whether there are obstacles that could affect the operation of your blind.
Inward-opening windows/doors
Inward-opening windows or doors can hit the blind when opening.
Protruding window or door hardware
Protruding hardware such as handles or hinges can block movement.
Heating pipes
Heating elements beneath the window can damage the blind or obstruct heat output.
Step 1 — Choose your mounting type
The measuring method differs per mounting type.
Measuring 'inside mount'
DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN DEDUCTIONS!
Enter your exact frame measurement. We automatically apply the necessary deduction for smooth operation.
Measure the width
Measure the width of the frame at 3 points: top, middle and bottom.
Record the SMALLEST width measurement. This is your order width.
Enter your measurements:
Measure the height
Measure the height of the frame at 3 points: left, middle and right.
Record the LARGEST height measurement. This is your order height.
Check the frame depth
Measuring 'outside mount'
Measure the width
Measure the width of the frame (outside to outside). Add at least 7cm on each side for optimal light blocking.
Frame width + 14cm = Order width
Example: 100cm + 14cm = 114cm
Measure the height
Measure from the desired mounting point (at least 5cm above the frame) to where you want the blind to end.
Account for the stack height!
When the blind is fully raised, the slats form a stack at the top. This stack is approx. 10% of the total height.
| Order height | Stack height |
|---|---|
| 100 cm | ± 10 cm |
| 150 cm | ± 15 cm |
| 200 cm | ± 20 cm |
| 250 cm | ± 25 cm |
| 300 cm | ± 30 cm |
Desired visible height ÷ 0.9 = Order height
Example: 180cm ÷ 0.9 = 200cm
Account for the mounting brackets (approx. 4cm) when determining the mounting point.
Common mistakes — and how to avoid them
Measuring at only one point
Always measure at 3 points and use the smallest width / largest height measurement.
Calculating deductions yourself
Enter your exact frame measurement. We automatically apply the necessary deduction.
Forgetting to check for obstacles
Always check first for inward-opening doors, hardware and heating elements.
Measuring height to the bottom of the glass
Measure to the window sill or to where you want the blind to end.
Minimum frame depth per product
| Product | Min. depth |
|---|---|
| Wooden blinds | 6 cm |
| Aluminium 16mm | 3 cm |
| Aluminium 25mm | 4 cm |
| Aluminium 35/50mm | 5 cm |
| PVC blinds | 5 cm |
